With great regret, the management of TUNGSRAM Kft. announced on 13.12.2022 that the liquidation of the consortium of companies has become inevitable and will be completed on 31.12.2022. TUNGSRAM GmbH - the German subsidiary - will not be liquidated immediately as well, but this process is nevertheless without alternative.
Thus, the TUNGSRAM group will stop any production and supply at the end of the year.
As a precaution, Multi-Lite has therefore reordered many important products and product families - such as the CMH - from the TUNGSRAM Group in large quantities in order to maintain the highest possible delivery availability for you.

GE Lighting taken over by the TUNGSRAM Group
The TUNGSRAM Group, a group of companies owned by Jörg Bauer, has taken over GE Lighting in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, as well as its global automotive business ("GEL EMEAT").
Since April this year, the TUNGSRAM Group has gradually been re-entering the market in various countries. The head office in Budapest, as well as five factories in Hungary and all of GE Lighting's infrastructure, were taken over and will now be operated under the Tungsram Operations Kft. company name.
In line with this, the GE Lighting business in Germany was transferred to TUNGSRAM Germany GmbH on 7 November 2018. TUNGSRAM Germany GmbH will assume all warranty obligations of GE Lighting GmbH and will fully comply with them.
In 1989, GE Lighting had taken over TUNGSRAM's plants and continued the lighting business until 7 November 2018. However, the TUNGSRAM brand never completely disappeared from the market, continuing to sell its products within the GE Lighting Group. The TUNGSRAM Group, headed by Jörg Bauer, has now taken charge again and made ambitious plans for the coming years.

In 1896, TUNGSRAM, trading under a different name at the time, was founded in Hungary. The name is composed of the English word "tungsten" and the German "Wolfram". Over time, TUNGSRAM became a world-leading lighting manufacturer, constantly working on major innovations, such as the invention of the krypton bulb in 1934.
New name, same quality: TUNGSRAM is taking over all of GE Lighting's factories and expanding the GE brand's product line to include the existing TUNGSRAM portfolio, providing customers with an even more extensive range of products. From now on, customers will receive deliveries of the usual quality without interruption.

What changes will this bring?
For the time being, nothing will change for you, as our MULTI-LITE customers, because we will continue our good business relationships and direct accounts with TUNGSRAM.
You will therefore be able to continue enjoying our usual high-quality service and will continue to receive all GE bulbs sourced from us in the past. And in the future, we will supply you with quality products from the TUNGSRAM Group.

Initially, you will continue to receive packaging with GE branding.
Over the next two years , however, these will be phased out and replaced by TUNGSRAM products in TUNGSRAM packaging .
During the transitional period, both GE and TUNGSRAM branded products will be on the market. The products with TUNGSRAM packaging will be sold with a new EAN and product number. The products will be shipped with either GE or TUNGSRAM packaging, so mixed batches may occur.
Of course, our customer advisors will inform you as required and make the transition as smooth as possible for you.

Product catalogues now have dual branding and, in addition to the familiar GE Lighting product numbers, now also include the TUNGSRAM product numbers for some products.

Are there any new products coming up yet?
There are currently no major new innovations. Only a small selection of GE Lighting products will be available from November 2018 and these have undergone technical improvement to soon be released as TUNGSRAM products.
